I always had this problem, when ever i wanted to go somewhere for vacation in Malaysia i would check how far it is but not be able to know the total costs using different modes of transport, sometimes i would go under budget because of other costs i dont know of like tolls of different places, so i thought maybe they cold be a way you build a system where one is able to know the total costs of tolls,fuel for car costs for the train,air,ship and bus all on one platform so you can compare and choose the most convenient mode.
